Business Studies for Finance and the Economy

“The economy is a very sensitive organism”

All Business and Economics students will benefit from this visit to the vibrant City of London, a leading international centre for finance since the 19th century.  Initially it was a magnet for lending and investment.  Today it is now a world leader in business and financial services and maintains the largest trade surplus in financial services around the world. London is popular for financial institutions as it benefits from its position between Asia and the USA time zones. It is also well located within Europe and both the Bank of England and the European Banking Authority are based in London.

Inspire and motivate your students with a tour of the Bank of England followed by a  presentation.  This will cover areas such as money, prices and the value of money, controlling spending, financial systems and how the bank works to name a few of the topics covered.  You can combine this with a guided tour of a sporting venue like the Olympic Stadium where students can look at the financial aspects of building this public/private venture.  They can also learn about its affect on the economy post London 2012 as well as examining the current issues that are affecting the business world.   For the afternoon you could split your students into groups and set them a challenge.  New for 2016 is a visit to a London retailer, hotel or tourist attraction to make contact with and interview key staff about the potential current issues they are facing in their day to day jobs.

Resources pre and  post visit maybe available please ask for further details. The suggested itinerary and pricing is just that and can be adapted to suit your needs just let us know what you want to achieve and the budget you have available.
