“Geography Rocks and Eco Rangers”

Geography and Tourism students will be fascinated to learn about the stunning South Dorset countryside and its iconic landmarks of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.  The Lulworth Estate extends over 12,000 acres (20 square miles) and includes 5 miles of the Jurassic Coast.  The Estate’s history can be traced back to the 11th century and since 1641, it has been owned and managed by the Weld family.

Although, traditionally an agricultural estate, Lulworth has been an innovator in diversification, being one of the first to recognise rural tourism, opening its doors to visitors in the early years of the twentieth century with the establishment of a holiday park, parking and coastal footpaths.  Their pioneering initiatives encompass all their activities, farming, tourism, employment, housing and access, their built and natural heritage and even providing the first live tank firing range.

For both Geography and Tourism students, Lulworth is widely recognised as one of the best places to study coastal processes, geology, ecology and tourism in the UK and attracts thousands of students of all ages every year.  The combination of striking, awe inspiring landscape, its accessibility and facilities make it a popular destination for schools and visitors alike.  By working with the Lulworth Estate we are able to offer a range of sessions for students that have been developed in line with the curriculum and with the benefit of local knowledge and years of experience in leading outdoor education.  Students are always delighted with this highly memorable experience.  All sessions can be tailored to suit individual group requirements.

Although offered as a day tour for schools, colleges and universities,  it can easily be extended to include an overnight stay so that students can arrive bright and early and ready to  go.  This is an ideal option for students that have further to travel.  Please ask our Educational Specialist for further details on day and residential visits.
