2 day tour

Take your art lessons to a new level.

Leave the classroom behind to marvel at the masters hanging in galleries then take to the street to see the art on display.

Is art displayed on cinder block walls any different than art that hangs in galleries? Is a swath of spray paint as powerful as a dab of oil? (Ingrid Beazley)

This overnight tour to England’s capital city gives your students the opportunity to delve deeper into the diversity of the art world.  Participate in a tour of a gallery of your choosing then attend a workshop where students will be able to focus on a well known artist to develop a full understanding of their work.  This is ideal for GCSE and A Level Art students but can easily be adapted for students of Art Foundation at University.  Teachers can ignite the passions of their students and help them to look forward and plan for their futures.  Pre-visit resources are available for teachers.

The gallery workshops take on different formats depending on the topic chosen.  Students focus on a particular artist or painting. Your guide gives you an insight into the work of the artist and their use of different mediums alternatively students sketch their own masterpieces and learn by doing.  Popular galleries with schools are the National Gallery, the Tate and National Portrait Gallery.

For art with a difference your students will meet Alternative London’s very own expert street artists who will take them on a walking tour of East London where they will see some of the world’s finest street art by Banksy, ROA, Shepard Fairey, Jimmy C, Invader, Stik and many more. Students participate in their own street art workshop. Feedback is always extremely positive.
